Alcohol and Diet

If your going to drink, whats a safe level to enjoy when you fancy a night out?

A dietitian may well encourage you to drink as little as possible. 

 

Alcoholic drinks are usually full of calories, once you have one you tend to drink another and you can very quickly pile on the pounds!

 

Guidline Consumption

UK guidelines are:

  1. Men: 3 to 4 units a day.
  2. Women: 2 to 3 units a day.

1 unit is equal to. 

  1. 1/2 pint beer.
  2. 1 glass wine.
  3. 1 measure of spirits.

Recognised safe limits are:

  1. Men 21 units/week.
  2. Women 14 units/week
